Film Screenings in Asylum Centers

In September 2015 we brought a beamer and a projector to the Maximiliaan Park. Many volunteers were helping to do film screenings every night. It brought light to the evenings for newcomers who newly arrived in Belgium. Many conversations in the park became friendships, and we kept contact with people who then moved to asylum centers. Upon their invitation we met in the park, we also to also bring the film screenings to many asylum centers all around Belgium. People often live in very remote centers in social isolation, away from contact with locals. Visiting asylum centers is a first step to connect with the society and to join Cinemaximiliaan activities.
We organise regular film screenings weekly or monthly in many asylum centres all around the country: Sint Niklaas-Westakkers, Lombardsijde, Namur-Belgrade, Houthalen-Helchteren, Antwerpen-Broechem, Brussel-Klein Kasteeltje, Nederoverheembeek, Sint-Pieters Woluwe, Hechtel-Eksel, Ghent-OC Reno, Lubbeek, Dendermonde, Poelkapelle, Sainte-Ode, Koksijde, Jette, Jodoigne…
Volunteers are welcome to join us on these visits to the centers. Stay tuned over our Facebook page for updates!
